One person killed in two-vehicle collision on Trans Canada Highway near Salmon Arm
SALMON ARM, B.C. — Salmon Arm RCMP say one person was killed after a two-vehicle collision along the Trans Canada Highway yesterday (July 25).
In a release, Staff Sgt. Scott West says around 2:05 p.m Monday, an officer on patrol in the Salmon Arm area saw smoke just east of 30th Street NE, and proceeded east on Highway 1. He then saw a two-vehicle collision scene, with one of the vehicles on fire.
An investigation revealed that a BMW SUV had been travelling east when it lost control, veering into the westbound lanes and into the path of an westbound Ford F150 truck towing a tent trailer.
The two vehicles collided, and passerby drivers who stopped were able to get the driver and passenger out of the pick-up truck. The driver and his female passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
