LYTTON — As a wildfire is burning 1.7 kilometres northwest of Lytton on the west side of the Fraser River, the B.C. Wildfire Service says rising temperatures could make the fire worse for crews.

The fire’s current estimated size is 2,223.0 hectares as of Saturday (July 23) morning.

The wildfire services say “temperatures will continue to rise, and humidity may decrease into the coming week, which could challenge crews by causing an increase in fire behaviour.”

Lytton First Nation and the fire service also say they were able to make good progress on containment and contingency lines on Friday (July 22).
