CHILLIWACK — The suspect in a double fatal shooting Thursday (July 21) in Chilliwack remains at large. 50-year-old Eric John Shestalo is suspected in the shooting deaths of two women. A man was also shot and is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to a home in the 9700 block of McNaught Avenue in Chilliwack at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, they found the three shooting victims. One woman was declared dead at the scene while the other was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster where she later died from her injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is urging the public to use caution and not approach Shestalo if he is spotted. Instead, the public should call 9-1-1 immediately. Shestalo is described as Caucasian, 5’9”, and 176 pounds. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket and a black hat with an orange rim.

He was driving a 1990 Jeep YJ with distinctive colours. It’s red on the back half while the front is painted yellow.

“Officers are working to locate Mr. Shestalo as well as any witnesses to this devastating incident,” said Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “We are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or residential security footage, to come forward and speak with police as soon as possible.”

Investigators believe Shestalo was known to his victims and the shooting was targeted.

They are asking anyone that may has seen anything suspicious in the area between 9:00 a.m. and noon, to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
