VIDEO: RCMP surround home on Kamloops North Shore

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: A video from an eyewitness appears to show two people being taken into custody at the scene of a police standoff at a home along Yew Street on the North Shore. The video was captured in the early evening and sent to CFJC Today shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday (July 20).

RCMP have confirmed the incident is over and police presence in the area has been reduced.

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a report of gunshots brought members rushing to a North Shore street Wednesday afternoon (July 20).

In a news release, spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says RCMP swarmed the 100-block of Yew Street at about 1:05 p.m. after the report of shots fired.

Once officers identified a home connected to the suspected gunshots, they set up a presence and asked the public to keep clear. Nearby residents were told to shelter in place.

The police presence continued throughout the afternoon, with the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and the Police Dog Service Unit joining local officers.

The public is still advised to stay away from the area.
