KAMLOOPS — Locals spent their Sunday (July 17) running around solving clues for the annual BC Wildlife Park Scavenger Hunt.

Folks were able to discover what the city has to offer through the competition and decipher riddles to win prizes.

The organizers were glad to see people out in the community taking in the fun.

“It gets teams discovering more about our city and noticing things that maybe you drive by every day, but you didn’t really know what the origin was or why that was there or when it was invented or that was necessarily the oldest building in our entire city,” Jennifer Marshall, event coordinator says.

Fifty-four teams participated in the event taking photos at each of the destinations. Marshall adds that all the funds raised through the competition helps the Wildlife Park.

“All the proceeds are directly donated to the park, so they can use those for initiatives that are ongoing within the park or purchasing the food that animals need. I know that’s well over $10,000 a month already. They also take in rehabilitation animals so there are necessary needs that the park has.”

The winners of the competition will be announced at 3:00 p.m. Monday (July 18).
