SALMON ARM, B.C. — The Shuswap Emergency Program announced it’s deactivating its emergency operations centre for Shuswap Lake.

In a news release issued Wednesday (July 13) morning, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) says the levels of Shuswap Lake are continuing to decline and are not predicted to rise any further in the summer.

However, the CSRD says water levels are expected to remain higher than usual into July, and it is up to individual property owners to decide on an appropriate time to remove flood protection measures from their properties. High streamflow conditions remain on Shuswap area creeks and rivers.

The CSRD says crews will be working in the coming days to remove the sandbags and large Gabion baskets used for flood protection at Canoe Beach in Salmon Arm and in areas of the District of Sicamous.
