Fire destroys residential trailer in Blackpool

BLACKPOOL, B.C. — Fire destroyed a residential trailer in Blackpool Tuesday evening (July 5).

Blackpool Fire Chief Mike Savage says crews were alerted to the blaze just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, and were able to see flames from the local fire hall.

Fire crews from Blackpool, Little Fort and Clearwater rushed to the Mountainview Trailer Court, finding a single-wide trailer ablaze.

Savage says, given the size and degree of flame coming from the trailer, firefighters took a defensive stance, limiting damage to neighbouring trailers.

The unit in question was completely destroyed and one trailer to the north sustained melted siding.

Savage says no one was injured. He notes the trailer had been occupied by an older gentleman.

The cause of the fire is believed to be cooking on a stove briefly left unattended.

Savage reminds residents to keep close tabs of their cooking, and also asks bystanders to stay well clear of a fire response. He notes some of the responding trucks Tuesday were unable to access the fire because ‘looky-loos’ were blocking their way in.
