Jul 4, 2022 | 9:55 AM

KAMLOOPS — Residents in Kamloops and area are under a severe thunderstorm watch for the second day in a row.

At around 9:00 a.m. Monday (July 4), Environment Canada says conditions are favourable to the development of severe thunderstorms in the South Thompson, Nicola and Shuswap regions.

According to Environment Canada, one of the main hazards with the thunderstorm watch is heavy rain exceeding 15 millimetres in one hour. Environment Canada warns that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Strong wind gusts and small hail are also possible. Intense lightning is also likely when thunderstorms develop. Residents are encouraged to go indoors if they hear the sound of thunder.
