COLLINS: A lack of trust

Jul 3, 2022 | 7:58 AM

THE PREDOMINANCE OF conspiracy theories has added to a level of mistrust not evident in decades.

We know that corruption has always been evident by “those damn Russians” and repressive force has always been a factor in the Communist bloc, including China. Funny how we overlooked all the corruption in the Western world.

But now we are starting to see evidence that we are operating under the same modus operandi as the Eastern bloc. Corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, law enforcement officials and the military are unveiling a corrupt underbelly that has not been pretty to witness.

The United States seems to be in much worse shape than Canada, but we need not point fingers. We are doing our.share to contribute to the problem.

I would be surprised if we had a similar group of manipulators like those who have surrounded Donald Trump, people who have lied, cheated, tried to illegally change the course of history, indirectly or directly, then asked for Presidential pardons because they knew they were wrong.

Among them, Rudy Guiliani, once known as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership after the 9/11 attacks, Time Magazine’s Man of the Year and made an Honourary Knight by the Queen. His legacy has been destroyed.

And among all these White House aides, people who were so close to Donald Trump, the only person with enough guts to shed serious light on the corruption was a young 26-year-old aide, frightened and alone, her safety obviously in danger, but willing to risk that to bring some truth to bear on the situation.

Excessive use of force by police, politicians being influenced in a number of ways, you name it, it’s happening. And while we are quick to make new laws, to ensure these actions never happen again, it’s all rhetoric, because based on recent activity, change will not take place quickly.

These governments will have changed drastically before they are ever called to be accountable for their promises.

This corruption has been going on for centuries, but recent investigation has shown us it’s probably been worse than we ever imagined. It’s only now that it’s harder to keep hidden.

I’m Doug Collins and that’s One Man’s Opinion.
