NorthPaws fall to Black Bears 13-4 Friday

KAMLOOPS — In the first of the weekend series, the Kamloops NorthPaws fell to the Cowlitz Black Bears 13-4 Friday (July 1).

The visiting Black Bears opened the scoring in the game leading by a run after the second inning.

NorthPaws’ Félix Chénier-Rondeau hit a solo homer, his fourth of the season – good for a tie for third in the West Coast League home run leaders.

Black Bears’ Calyn Halvorson hit a two-run double which eventually led to multiple runs coming in to push the lead to 5-1.

The NorthPaws responded in the seventh inning bringing the score within one after Tommy Green hit his first home run of the season.

Cowlitz added five runs in the 9th extending the lead. Raul Herrada earned the road victory on the mound for Cowlitz as he allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings. The final score was 13-4 for the Black Bears.

The NorthPaws are back in action Saturday (July 2) in the second game of this weekend series against the Black Bears. The opening pitch on Dearborn Ford Field is at 6:35 p.m.
