Two men arrested after alleged gas station robbery in Merritt
MERRITT, B.C. — Two men were arrested after allegedly robbing a gas station in Merritt.
In a news release, Merritt RCMP say they were called to the 2300-block of Nicola Avenue on June 16 where it was alleged that two suspects had robbed the store with handguns and assaulted the clerk.
RCMP say one of the men was arrested by a police dog after a short chase and was found to be in possession of an air pistol, long-serrated knife with a gut hook, and what is believed to be stolen merchandise from the store. Police say he was released on conditions.
One day later, on June 17, RCMP say they identified the second man and arrested him. Police says he was also found to be in possession of an air pistol and what is believed to be stolen merchandise from the store. His matter is before the courts.
