KAMLOOPS — Kamloops’ Dylan Garand was the top goaltender in Canadian junior hockey last season.

The Canadian Hockey League is handing out its year-end awards Tuesday (June 28), and the Blazers’ Garand was named winner of the CHL Goaltender of the Year after winning the same honour in the Western Hockey League.

Garand, who was drafted by the New York Rangers in 2020, finished among the league leaders in save percentage (.925), goals against average (2.16), wins (34) and shutouts (4).

Garand, 20, is the first Blazers goaltender to win the honour since Corey Hirsch in 1992.
