Riverside Park spray park delayed until next year
KAMLOOPS — The timeline has been extended for a new spray park in Riverside Park due to supply chain challenges and other “unforeseen circumstances”, according to a news release from the City on Friday (June 24).
The city had originally planned to open the new spray park for summer. Crews tore up the existing spray park in fall of 2021.
The news release touches on other upgrades to Riverside Park. The City is moving ahead on construction of an inclusive playground adjacent to the existing playground. Jill Moore is a wheelchair athlete and aids in development of inclusive playgrounds with Landscape Structures, the playground vendor.
“We believe people with disabilities should get to control their environment, be it spinning, swinging [and] swaying, and we try to integrate that as much as possible,” said Moore.
“People with disabilities are active players, and an inclusive environment is going to showcase everything we can bring to the table when we’re invited.”
