KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers unveiled their 34-game home schedule for the 2022-23 Western Hockey League (WHL) season.

The Blazers schedule includes 15 games on Friday, nine on Saturday, eight on Wednesday, one on Tuesday, and one on Sunday.

The Blazers play their home opener at Sandman Centre Friday, Sept. 23, against the Portland Winterhawks.

Kamloops will also welcome back teams from the WHL Eastern Conference for the first time since 2019-20, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Blazers will host teams from Manitoba and Saskatchewan, highlighted by a game on Wednesday, Nov. 30 against the projected first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats.

Other notable games include the annual Teddy Bear Toss against the Victoria Royals on Saturday, Dec. 10, and the annual Family Day game against the Royals on Sunday, Feb. 5. The Blazers say Feb. 5 will act as the Family Day game due to Sandman Centre being unavailable on B.C. Family Day, which is Monday, Feb. 20.

The full home schedule is online. The full WHL schedule will be released in early July.
