TRU improper conduct investigation timeline extended again

KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University’s Board of Governors has once again extended its timeline for completion of an investigation into a current and former senior administrator.

Vice-President of Finance and Administration Matt Milovick and former Vice-President of People and Culture Larry Phillips are subject to an independent investigation after allegations of improper conduct came forward. Phillips has since left the university.

The allegations include discrimination and harassment.

In a brief news release, TRU says it had previously expected the investigation to be complete this summer, but have extended the timeline to the fall.

It notes one of the investigators was appointed a provincial court judge during the probe, leading him to end his involvement. The board subsequently added another investigator to “ensure the investigation can be completed in a timely manner.”

The school says it regrets the impact the delay may have on anyone impacted by the investigation.

In March, TRU’s board announced it was extending the timeline by three-to-four months in order to interview additional witnesses.
