Thompson River from Kamloops to Spences Bridge added to B.C. flood watch list
KAMLOOPS — The province is adding the Thompson River to its list of B.C. Interior waterways on flood watch.
In a bulletin issued Tuesday (June 21), the B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) says the Thompson River from Kamloops to Spences Bridge is now subject to a flood watch. The designation already applies to the North Thompson, South Thompson, Shuswap-region tributaries and tributaries flowing westward in the Cariboo.
The Nicola River remains at a high streamflow advisory.
The BCRFC says waterways are flowing very high right now, and levels may be pushed even higher if forecast rainfall comes to fruition. Weather prognosticators are calling for the longest-lasting rainfall to hit the South Thompson, North Thompson and Cariboo Mountains beginning late Tuesday and lingering through to Thursday.
