KAMLOOPS — An online fundraiser identified the three deceased in a triple-fatal crash near Kamloops Thursday (June 16).

According to Erin Kotha, the organizer of a GoFundMe campaign, Troy Evans was driving in a moving truck to Alberta. He was following a vehicle carrying his wife Natalie, his mother-in-law Daphne, and his two young children: two-year-old Adonai and four-week-old Troy Jr.

Natalie, Daphne, and Troy Jr. were killed when their northbound Nissan car crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound transport truck along Highway 5 near Vinsulla. Adonai was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Kotha says the campaign aims to ease the financial burden of the memorial service and Troy’s living expenses following the crash.

In an email, Sgt. Chris Manseau of RCMP E-Division communications says while witnesses and dashcam footage confirm the Nissan crossed the centre line, it’s unknown why it veered into the oncoming lane.

Three others involved in the collision were taken to hospital, including one who was airlifted in critical condition.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Central Interior division of B.C. Highway Patrol.
