Province implements area restriction for Evergreen area near Heffley Creek

KAMLOOPS — The province is implementing an area restriction for the Evergreen area north of Heffley Creek.

The Area Restriction Order takes effect at 12:00 noon Friday (June 17) and will remain in place through the summer, expiring on Sept. 9 unless otherwise extended or rescinded.

The order applies to Crown land within the boundaries indicated by the map below. People are prohibited from entering or remaining in the restricted area unless they have written permission from the province or are acting travelling through.

The Kamloops Fire Centre says the restriction is in place in order to limit the threat of wildfire this summer.
