Three dead, including infant, after terrible crash on Yellowhead north of Kamloops: RCMP

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (2:00 p.m.): B.C. Emergency Health Services says three additional people were taken to hospital for treatment.

One person was airlifted to hospital in critical condition. Two others were taken by ground ambulance in stable condition.

UPDATE (11:35 a.m.): B.C. Highway Patrol is now confirming three people have died in a crash just north of Kamloops.

The crash happened on Highway 5 near Vinsulla at about 10:55 a.m. Thursday (June 16).

Cpl. Mike Halskov says emergency responders on scene have confirmed two adults and one infant have died in the crash.

Halskov says the collision involved a semi truck and at least one passenger vehicle.

The cause of the crash is not known and Halskov says the investigation is in its early stages.

The highway is closed in both directions and motorists can expect lengthy delays.

EARLIER: B.C. Highway Patrol is confirming at least one person has died in a crash just north of Kamloops.

Cpl. Mike Halskov says the collision involved a semi truck and at least one passenger vehicle. Halskov says at least one person was killed in the crash, but information is very preliminary.

The highway is closed in both directions.
