SOUND OFF: Kamloops is catching wedding fever
FOLLOWING A TWO-YEAR LULL, area wedding rates are increasing dramatically. While the biggest increases have been seen in nearby Kelowna, Infotel.ca report that the province in general has seen a huge 10 per cent increase in the number of weddings taking place, rapidly returning to the pre-pandemic income level of $700 million. Kamloops is catching that fever, and soon enough there’ll be a huge spike in the number of weddings taking place in the city and the amount of celebrations, and planning, taking place.
The jewelry scene
One of the lesser known but most time-honored Kamloops traditions is jewelry-making. As Kamloops Now highlights, the 45-year celebration of Kamloops’ farmer market brings a lot of focus onto local handcrafted jewelry, spanning everything from cutesy local pieces through to stunning pieces of vintage-design classics. As a result, picking up a handcrafted wedding ring is not only easily done in Kamloops, but it’ll have a local vibe, too. Any style can work, depending on the wedding, and that’s where Kamloops excels. The Indigenous history of the area has provided a rich heritage to sensitively draw on, in addition to the many time-honored wedding band trends that have defined the modern wedding scene across the world.
