Province warns of high water on Lower Thompson, Nicola Rivers
KAMLOOPS — A pulse of high water filling up the North Thompson River is making its way downstream and that has led to another provincial advisory.
As of Friday afternoon (June 10), the B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) has issued a high streamflow advisory for the Lower Thompson River — between Kamloops and the confluence with the Fraser River — and the Nicola River.
The BCRFC says the Thompson River at Spences Bridge is now flowing at a two-year level, but is forecast to rise to the two-to-five-year level in the coming days.
Thankfully, the province notes there is neither significant rainfall nor high temperatures in the forecast that would trigger dramatic flow increases.
