KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops are searching for a suspect involved in a second daytime robbery this week.

RCMP say on Wednesday (June 8) around 4:40 p.m., officers were called to the 800-block of Columbia Street for a report of a man who walked into a store with a bandana over his face, pulled out what appeared to be a gun, then demanded cash, lotto tickets, and energy drinks.

“Officers arrived on scene almost immediately but the culprit fled on a bike into a residential area,” says Corporal Crystal Evelyn of Kamloops RCMP, “The Police Dog Service Unit attended and was able to track evidence related to the investigation, but the suspect managed to escape.”

The Forensic Identification Unit also arrived on scene to gather evidence.

The suspect is described as: (see below for photos)

  • Caucasian Male
  • 6’ tall
  • Short hair

Wearing:

  • Blue ball cap
  • White tank top
  • Red bandana
  • Dark pants
  • White and black shoes
  • Grey and black backpack with a small red logo

This incident is the second daytime robbery reported this week in the city.

Another business, located in the 1200-block of Summit Drive, was robbed with a weapon on Monday (June 6) around 2:50 p.m. Police say a pellet gun was found nearby.

“The time of day that both these robberies occurred is typically when we see lots of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the community,” adds Cpl. Evelyn. “It is our hope that someone will have seen something that can help identify a suspect.”

At this time, RCMP say it is unknown if the robberies are related.

Anyone who witnessed, has video footage, or information about the suspect is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-19377.
