Data centre, TRU projects highlight big May for building in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — The owners of a huge data centre in the McGill Industrial Park are making another big investment.

According to building permit reports published by the City of Kamloops, Equinix has decided to make a major improvement to the data centre, totalling $8 million in value.

The listed builder is EllisDon, an Ontario-based construction firm notable for having built the Patient Care Tower at Royal Inland Hospital.

A permit was also issued last week for a $5.5 million renovation to the interior of the Science Building at Thompson Rivers University.

Together, those two permits made up nearly half of the May permit value issued by the City of Kamloops, which totaled $27.8 million.
