City of Kamloops outlines $940,000 in Sandman Centre upgrades
KAMLOOPS — When the City of Kamloops was awarded the 2023 Memorial Cup, it came with it the requirement to bring the Sandman Centre up to the top of the Canadian Hockey League’s standards.
Ahead of next year’s event, the City will invest $940,000 in broadcasting upgrades. That includes game presentation systems, video production control room and video replay systems, broadcast cable infrastructure, as well as new signage, sponsorship and distributed video systems.
“As Canada’s Tournament Capital, we strive to provide the best facilities possible for our local, provincial and national sport partners to deliver memorable, quality events at exceptional venues,” said Jeff Putnam, the City’s Parks and Civic Facilities Manager. “Ultimately, these upgrades are about providing an exceptional game experience to fans, whether they’re in the arena or watching from around the world.”
Temporary dehumidification and air conditioning units will also be installed for the duration of the tournament.
