Cariboo rivers upgraded to flood watch stage; North Thompson remains at high streamflow advisory
QUESNEL, B.C. — The B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) has upgraded rivers in the Cariboo Mountain region to flood watch stage. That includes the Horsefly River and Quesnel River and other west-flowing tributaries.
In a bulletin issued Wednesday afternoon (June 8), the BCRFC says rivers in the area have been rising due to a combination of snowmelt and rainfall.
Given the amount of snow remaining in the upper elevation, the BCRFC says it may be one-to-two weeks before these rivers peak.
Meantime, the North Thompson River and its tributaries around Barriere and Clearwater remain on high streamflow advisory.
