NorthPaws’ Colby Ring earns WCL Pitcher of the Week honours for week one

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops NorthPaws player earned recognition in the first week of the team’s first West Coast League (WCL) season.

Colby Ring, a left-handed pitcher with the University of Antelope Valley, WCL Pitcher of the Week for week one of the 2022 season. The Langley product pitched six scoreless innings and struck out eight in his WCL debut in Thursday’s (June 2) 1-0 win against the Edmonton Riverhawks.

The NorthPaws have had a successful first week. They’re 4-2 and first in the North Division to start the 2022 WCL season. They swept a three-game series with the Riverhawks and split a double-header with the Port Angeles Lefties before dropping a 6-5 game in 11 innings to the Cowlitz Black Bears Monday (June 6).

The NorthPaws remain in Longview, Washington for two more games against the Black Bears. They return home to Norbrock Stadium Friday (June 10) to begin a six-game homestand by welcoming the Bellingham Bells.
