City-wide emergency test alert taking place in Kamloops

Jun 6, 2022 | 10:53 AM

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops will issue a city-wide test alert on Wednesday (June 8) at 10:30 a.m. through Voyent Alert!, its emergency notification system.

In a news release issued Monday (June 6) morning, the City says the test will go out by SMS text, phone call, email and as a notification through the mobile app, depending on what type of messaging each resident has registered for.

“We want to give our residents an opportunity to experience what to expect in the event of a critical alert, such as an evacuation order,” Kristen Rodrigue, Kamloops’ communications supervisor says. “We encourage all residents to register for Voyent Alert! ahead of the 2022 flood and wildfire seasons.”

Registered app users are asked to verify that the app is active on their devices and open their app, or log into their accounts online, to ensure their locations are positioned accurately.
