With sales down and inventory up, Kamloops real estate achieves more balance in May
KAMLOOPS — The local real estate market took a step toward greater stability and balance in May, according to the Association of Interior Realtors.
The latest Kamloops statistics show 263 sales in May, up from April but down about 34 per cent from May of 2021.
Inventory is up, though, with 553 new listings added last month, an increase of about 10 per cent from May of last year.
“We’re selling considerably fewer units than our record levels during the same time in 2021, but month-on-month the market is holding its seasonal pattern. With busy summer months ahead of us, I’d say that sales in the region have eased out for the better. Last month was especially important for the market as we added 53 per cent more listings than we sold for the first time since the pandemic,” said association president Lyndi Cruickshank.
