Lightning storm slams Kamloops area Tuesday

KAMLOOPS — A severe lightning storm rumbled into Kamloops Tuesday afternoon (May 31).

Moving in during the 1:00 p.m. hour, the storm brought dozens of lightning strikes combined with heavy rain.

In Aberdeen, the storm was accompanied by hail that gathered on lawns and homes.

BC Hydro reported an outage covering thousands of customers in Aberdeen and Upper Sahali, though CFJC Today received reports from residents suggesting power was still on.

With the current weather system moving through the Kamloops area, any residents experiencing localized flooding or water issues are advised to call 250-828-3461.
