Merritt man pleads guilty following August break-in
MERRITT, B.C. — RCMP say a Merritt man pleaded guilty to break and enter with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and obstructing a police officer during two separate incidents.
In a news release, Merritt RCMP say Kyle McIsaac received a sentence of 21 days in jail – time served – 12 months probation, a five-year discretionary firearms prohibition, a $500 fine, and a $100 victim surcharge on May 17.
McIsaac’s charges began on Aug. 16, 2021, where officers were called to Mario’s Tow yard on Nicola Avenue as staff had caught a man who had broken into their compound. Officers arrested McIsaac and found a homemade firearm in his possession.
In 2022, a warrant was issued for McIsaac’s arrest on March 1 for failing to attend court in relation to his break-in and firearm possession charges. Police say was arrested following a lengthy chase on April 15 after officers locating him riding a bicycle on Nicola Avenue.
