Students fleeing Ukrainian invasion offered domestic tuition rates at TRU
KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University is offering support to post-secondary students escaping the invasion of Ukraine.
In a news release, the school says it has decided to offer tuition support to up to 50 students for the 2022-23 academic year in conjunction with the federal government’s Canadian-Ukrainian Authorized for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program. The support will mean those 50 students pay domestic student tuition rates.
TRU says it plans to sponsor 20 currently-enrolled students and 30 new students who qualify for up to 60 credits each.
The CUAET program allows Ukrainians and their family members “free, extended temporary status and allows them to work, study and stay in Canada for up to three years.”
