
Highway 1 east of Cache Creek clear after wildfire closure
UPDATE (10:30 a.m.): BC Wildfire Service says the Juniper Knoll wildfire is now under control, meaning there will be no further spread. The investigation is ongoing, although BCWS says it’s suspected to be person-caused.
EARLIER: CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Trans Canada Highway west of Kamloops is clear following an earlier forest fire closure.
Argo Roads Thompson, B.C.’s road maintenance contractor for the Thompson region, gave the green light at 10 p.m. Tuesday (May 17). The stretch of Highway 1 between Cache Creek and Savona was closed shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday due to the fire near Juniper Beach Provincial Park.
