Driver and kitten escape with minor injuries after going off Coquihalla Highway

MERRITT B.C. — Merritt RCMP are encouraging the public to be well-rested ahead of driving on highways after a driver and their kitten suffered minor injuries.

Officers attended a single-vehicle collision on the Coquihalla Highway Friday (May 6) where the driver reportedly fell asleep, went off the road and rolled their vehicle multiple times.

RCMP say the driver was transported to Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt as a precaution. Meanwhile, officers located the driver’s kitten in the vehicle. Police say an officer came into work on her day off, took the kitten to a vet where they were assessed with minor bruising and then reunited with the driver.
