SICAMOUS, B.C. — The District of Sicamous lifted its evacuation alert for numerous properties in the Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park.

In an update Monday (May 9) morning, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) says residences No. 1 to 27 Highway 97A are all clear following the original alert was issued Thursday (May 9).

However, the CSRD encourages residents to stay informed due to the ongoing landslide risk near Wiseman Creek that may pose danger to life, health or property.

Previously, the CSRD directors did not support a proposal to conduct salvage logging in the Sicamous and Wiseman Creek watersheds due to the high risk of landslides following the Two Mile wildfire near Sicamous in summer 2021. The Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park is located at the base of Wiseman Creek.
