SICAMOUS, B.C. — The District of Sicamous has issued an evacuation alert for numerous properties in the Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park.

In a news release issued Thursday (May 5) morning, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) says there’s a threat of a landslide near Wiseman Creek that may pose danger to life, health or property from residences No. 1 to 27 Highway 97A.

Previously, the CSRD directors did not support a proposal to conduct salvage logging in the Sicamous and Wiseman Creek watersheds due to the high risk of landslides following the Two Mile wildfire near Sicamous in summer 2021. The Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park is located at the base of Wiseman Creek.
