RCMP take eight excessive speeders off the highway near Merritt
MERRITT, B.C. — B.C. Highway Patrol officers had a busy Sunday (May 1) taking excessive speeders off the road.
In a news release Monday (May 2) Merritt RCMP said they caught eight different cars speeding excessively, defined as 40 km/h over the posted speed limit.
RCMP said one car was travelling at 187 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. The ticketing RCMP officer noted some of the vehicle’s occupants were not wearing seatbelts.
“The weather is warming and the snow is melting, but that doesn’t mean you can speed,” said the news release.
