City highlights creative ways to take part in Arbor Day
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is encouraging residents to get into the spirit of Arbor Day Friday (Apr. 29) with a number of activities, including a new tour program.
The city’s Urban Tree Tour is now offered online. It’s a self-guided trek throughout the city that showcases 21 unique trees around the city. The trees are marked with green ribbons to identify them, and the map can be found at kamloops.ca/trees.
Another Arbor Day themed activity currently offered in Kamloops is the arboretum (also known as a tree museum) in the Old Man’s Cemetery on Sixth Avenue.
And for those interested in planting their own trees this spring, the city’s annual tree coupons are currently available until June 15. People want to purchased eligible trees at certain stores around the city can take advantage of $20 and $50 value coupons.
