KAMLOOPS — After an almost three-year hiatus, Kamloops’ favourite craft beer festival is making its return next month.

BrewLoops is back on May 28 for what organizers are calling a more “intimate” version of the classic block party.

“Over the last six months or so, we started having conversations, and just wanted to dip our toes back in the water,” BrewLoops President Tyson Andreykew explains. “Limited capacity, a little bit limited as far as what we’re going to have happen at the event. Still, a lot of fun and it’ll be great to get people out again.”

For local brewers, BrewLoops is always a great opportunity to connect with folks passionate about locally-produced beers.

“The number one important thing about craft beer is it brings people together,” Nick Murphy, Head Brewer at the Noble Pig, tells CFJC Today. “Not just other craft breweries, but the people in the city — over the love of something we make by hand.”

According to organizers, the pared-down version of BrewLoops will be focused on local beer and cider producers. That hyper-local approach is perfect for Iron Road Brewing.

“Really excited,” Richard Phillips, one of the owners of Iron Road says. “Kind of get our faces back out and dust off the tent and the jockey box because they haven’t really been used much over the last couple of years.”

The event, which grew into a multi-day festival before the pandemic pause occurred, drew more than 4,000 guests back in 2019. This year, organizers decided to limit ticket sales to 800 — all of which sold in just one day.

“With a two-year break, it’s taking a while to get back into it,” Andreykew says. “We’re figuring our way out, and we’re looking forward to having everyone back and enjoying another great BrewLoops event.”

All proceeds from the spring BrewLoops festival will be donated to Western Canada Theatre and local rotary clubs.
