Fire near Thompson Rivers University caused by homeless person’s campfire: KFR

KAMLOOPS – The grass fire that broke out in a gully near the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) residences Saturday (April 16) afternoon was caused by a homeless person’s campfire.

Ray Webster, Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) fire investigator, says it took two firetrucks to extinguish the fire, but there were no injuries or structure damage reported.

Smoke rising from the fire could be seen in many parts of the city.
