Elderly man reportedly drives on sidewalk in 100 Mile House; RCMP don’t suspect impairment
100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — An elderly man reportedly drove onto the sidewalk while making a right hand turn from Fifth Street onto Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House Wednesday (April 20) morning.
RCMP say it caused a lot of distraction and concern for the public in the area who had to avoid him, as he attempted to keep driving away from the scene. Officers attended and found the man out of his vehicle and talking with a witness.
Police say they didn’t suspect the man was impaired, but he was slightly shaken up and explained what he was trying to do and where he was going. RCMP let the man continue his way after they spoke with witnesses.
RCMP add a request to review the man’s driver’s licence has been forwarded to the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles based on the driver’s actions.
