Advance voting begins for Sorrento-Blind Bay incorporation referendum

SORRENTO, B.C. — Residents in the Sorrento-Blind Bay area are deciding whether they want their two south Shuswap communities to become one.

On its website, the CSRD says its Board of Directors unanimously approved a referendum on incorporation during the March 17, 2022, regular board meeting.

It comes following the completion of a study that examined the benefits residents in the two south Shuswap communities may see with incorporation.

Advance voting runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (April 20) at the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) office in Salmon Arm and Shuswap Lake Estates Hall in Blind Bay. The general voting date is Saturday, April 30, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Voters on referendum day can cast their ballot at Sorrento Memorial Hall and Blind Bay Memorial Hall.
