Valleyview Secondary student one of 35 to win $100,000 scholarships

KAMLOOPS — A Valleyview Secondary student has won a prestigious scholarship to continue her studies at the post-secondary level.
The Kamloops-Thompson School District says Ila Campbell is one of only 35 recipients of a $100,000 scholarship from the Loran Scholars Foundation. Campbell was chosen from more than 5,100 applicants.
The scholarships are awarded to students who “demonstrate a firm commitment to character, service, and leadership potential; breadth in academic and extra-curricular interests; integrity; and a high level of personal autonomy.”
The four-year award allows Campbell to access funds for living expenses, tuition, one-on-one mentorship, summer work experiences and more.
