Overnight closures coming for Clearwater emergency department

CLEARWATER — Interior Health says the emergency department in Clearwater will be closed periodically over the long weekend.

As a result of unforseen limited staffing, overnight emergency department hours at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will be reduced.

The ER will be closed between 6 p.m. Saturday (Apr. 16) and 7 a.m. Sunday (Apr. 17), and between 6 p.m. Monday (Apri. 18) and 7 a.m. Tuesday (Apr. 19).

Interior Health adds that this is a temporary change. Residents who need care while the emergency department is closed are asked to call 9-1-1, or visit the emergency department in Kamloops at Royal Inland Hospital.
