KAMLOOPS — RCMP are looking for suspects after an assault at Pioneer Park Friday night.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the incident happened at about 9:05 p.m. Friday. Officers were in the Pioneer Park parking lot when a group came running toward them from the beach saying someone had been stabbed.

“Officers attended an area and located numerous intoxicated youths, and a male with injuries consistent to be being struck by a sharp object,” said Evelyn.

The victim, a male, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP say a man and a woman were reportedly throwing eggs at the crowd. When the victim confronted the two, they attacked him before fleeing westbound toward Riverside Park.

The male suspect was wearing a ski mask and a blue shirt while the woman, described as white with brown hair, was reportedly wearing a ghillie suit — a type of camouflage meant to make the wearer look like bushes or foliage.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and cite file number 2022-11424.
