KAMLOOPS – Kamloops Blazers’ center Logan Stankoven notched his 100th point of the season in Saturday (April 9) night’s OT thriller loss to the Portland Winterhawks.

Despite the Blazers’ loss, Stankoven added three points to his season total pushing him to 102 points in the 2021-22 WHL Regular Season.

His night was spoiled when Portland’s Jaydon Dureau scored his 22nd goal of the season in overtime at the Sandman Centre.

For the Blazers, this loss makes it harder for them to catch the Everett Silvertips for first place in the conference.

To start the third period, Kamloops trailed by a goal 3-2. With a pair of goals in a one-minute span, the Blazers quickly grabbed the lead 4-3.

Winterhawks’ Marek Alscher scored to tie the game up at 4-4 to send the game to overtime.

Dureau then buried the game-winner at 2:22 in overtime, adding to Portland’s record of 45-16-3. The team has 95 points, two points behind the Blazers.

The Blazers’ next game could be pivotal as they take on the Prince George Cougars on April 15 at the Sandman Centre. Both the Blazers and Cougars are battling for playoff seeding with two games remaining in the regular season.
