100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A 42-year-old Vancouver Island Man was taken to Williams Lake Hospital and may have suffered a spinal cord injury following a serious crash on Highway 97.

100 Mile House RCMP say they, along with fire crews and BC Ambulance, attended a serious single vehicle rollover near Maze Lake Road north of Lac La Hache early Thursday (April 7) morning.

Police say the vehicle had gone off road into the ditch and suffered catastrophic damage. While there were no signs of impairment, RCMP say initial indications based on evidence at scene suggests fatigue was the main factor, and the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and drifted off the roadway. A BC Highway Patrol analyst was contacted but did not attend as there was no criminality found during the investigation.

RCMP say all indications initially were that the man had only suffered minor injuries but has since been flown to Vancouver for emergency treatment.
