KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 349 calls for service from midnight Friday (April 1) to 9:00 a.m. on Monday (April 4). Below are some highlights from those reports.

Lafarge Road break-in

RCMP are looking for witnesses following an overnight break in at a business on Lafarge Road.

Officers attended the business at 4:30 a.m. Monday where a suspect, or suspects, had attempted to steal a truck. They were unsuccessful, but did make off with a laptop, along with causing damage to the property.

The break and enter is believed to have occurred before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

Seventy grams of drugs seized in Valleyview

RCMP seized more than 70 grams of suspected illegal drugs, including suspected crystal meth and purple fentanyl and white pills, along with cash, weapons and paraphernalia Friday morning.

Police say an officer stopped a vehicle after it ran a stop sign in Valleyview at around 11:30 a.m. The officer checked the vehicle after he saw a weapon trucked between the seat and door.

The two men in the vehicle were arrested and released roadside, with charges pending following the investigation’s conclusion.

Man on warrant arrested after knife report

A man was arrested on a warrant and new offences after an altercation on Columbia Street West where a knife was allegedly pulled Saturday afternoon.

RCMP say they located the suspect, who initially would not remove his hands from his pockets and was yelling at police. As more officers arrived, the man threw a knife onto the ground.

Further investigation revealed he had allegedly provided a false name to police and was wanted on a warrant for robbery and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. He was released with a court date for the warrant.
