COVID-19: B.C. surpasses 3,000 death mark

VICTORIA — B.C. has surpassed 3,000 deaths from COVID-19.

In its latest surveillance report distributed Friday afternoon (Apr. 1), the province’s Ministry of Health reports four additional deaths due to the virus, bringing the B.C. death toll to 3,002. One of the newly-reported deaths occurred in Interior Health.

Hospitalizations are down by seven from Thursday to 274. There are 35 people in intensive care, also down by seven.

As Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam warns of potential case count increases, B.C. shows 357 new positive tests Friday, including 103 in Interior Health.
