Music in the Park officially returns for 2022 season

KAMLOOPS — Strike up the band.

The city has announced Music in the Park, a summer staple in Kamloops that runs in July and August at Riverside Park, will be centre stage once again at the Bandshell.

“We look forward to welcoming artists back to our community and encourage our out-of-town friends to come and enjoy the longest-running series of its kind in North America” said Music in the Park coordinator Henry Small in a news release.

COVID-19 forced the daily concerts to stop in 2020 and 2021 after running for 28 years. Organizers want performance to apply to be on stage for summer 2022.

“This event was dearly missed in our community during the last two years and we’re so happy to have it back in Riverside Park this summer,” said the city’s Business Operations and Event Supervisor Sean Smith. “We encourage past and new artists to apply for an opportunity to perform — the wide variety of music is what makes this event a success.”
