B.C. records six new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, inches closer to 3,000 total fatalities

VICTORIA — COVID-19 hospitalizations in B.C. saw another slight increase on Wednesday (March 30), as the small rollercoaster in the mid-to-late-200s continues.

In Wednesday’s update, B.C.’s Ministry of Health reports 276 hospitalizations, an increase of three from Tuesday. However, intensive care patients slightly decreased to 43, down by three.

Six new virus-related deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, one in Interior Health, for a provincial total of 2,996.

No new COVID-19 outbreaks were declared at health care facilities Wednesday, for an active total of seven. None are in Interior Health.

As of Wednesday, 90.8 per cent (4,528,240) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 87.3 per cent (4,351,830) have received their second. Additionally, 57.5 per cent (2,665,395) of eligible British Columbians 12 and older have received a third dose.
